Nightlife
Berlin is well known for its nightlife and club scene, and is easily considered one of the top places in Europe for lovers of the night. Techo and electrical music is what's up, and many world famous club, such as Tresor and Berghain can be found in the city. Though Berlin is well know for its diversity, and the same can be said for its clubs and music. There is something to satisfy anyone's tastes, styles and moods, and all at a relatively cheap price.
Clubbing is not something special or out of the ordinary here, it is just something that everyone does, its part of the city culture. It is looked upon rather casually and it is common to just jump from one club to another as your mood changes or you are just looking for something different, as casually as going from one store to another looking for what you like best. Walking on the streets you find yourself among many others just like you, each looking for the next club. At night (especially weekends) the city becomes almost like one big party. Interestingly enough, even with such a big night scene, the city still finds place during the night even for those that are not involved in the party scene. It still manages to retain its calm, and you often see families with children mixed in with party goers on the streets, and both are equally comfortable with each other, living in parallel. In the same way the city maintains its level of security, and even 4 in the morning, regardless of your state, you can safely walk back from a club without any real threats.
Something interesting: During the summer months the sun in Berlin doesn't set until about 11 at night, and rises at 4 in the morning, so it is common amongst club goers to literly spend their "night" clubbing, as they set out for the clubs as the sun sets, and don't leave until it rises.
