Pre-departure jitters and a million questions raced in my head as I boarded the plane. I thought of the possible culture shocks that I could have, but with a huge German expatriate population and growing up with half Germans in Singapore, I did not forsee any culture shocks before heading to Berlin. Singapore is a melting pot of cultures, where people are constantly moving in and out of the country. The biggest misconception would be that Singapore is located in China, partly due to a huge majority of ethnic Chinese living in the tiny island, and that everyone is Chinese.
