Marketing Intern
J Compass works to promote Hawaii to the Japanese market through advertising campaigns, PR, promotional events, etc. J Compass represents the Japanese branch of Go Hawai'i, the state's official tourism organization. With over 1.3 million annual visitors each year, Japan makes up the largest proportion of Hawaii's tourism industry, making it one of its most important markets.
- Basic conversational level is required, but the intern will report to supervisors in English
- Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Hawaii and global tourism is a plus
- Attend tourism seminars and meetings
- Support event planning and logistics
- Writing and preparing newsletters to be sent to vendors in Hawaii
- Assist with daily administrative duties
- Projects may vary according to the intern's interests and skills.
Marketing interns will experience work in a professional Japanese environment, learning about the dynamics of the travel industry in both Japan and Hawaii. Interns will learn about targeted marketing as s/he works with American businesses and Japanese consumers. S/he will help to develop trade relations with Japanese and Hawaiian professionals through various promotional events and meetings in Tokyo.
