Non Profit Marketing and Fundraising Intern
Get Connected is a non-profit charity whose vision is that every young person in the UK can find the help they need to support their emotional and physical well being.
There are eleven million young people in the UK. In Get Connected's survey of 2006, four out of five young people didn't know where to turn with their problems. Get Connected is a free helpline for these young people, who know they need help but don't know where to find it. They can talk to Get Connected Helpline Volunteers by phone, email and webchat any day of the year. Volunteers are fully trained to support each young person in their unique situation, and help them choose the best service from over 13,000 in the UK. Get Connected is the vital gateway between a distressing, confusing problem the young person can't solve on their own and the service that can help them solve it. Crucially, the connection we make for each young person to their chosen source of help is free as well.
The ideal candidates will be inspired by Get Connected’s mission and want to contribute to their success. Hard-working but social and fun, the staff of Get Connected expects an intern to be of the same mentality. A high degree of organization as well as basic computer skills are a must.
Interns at Get Connected will have the opportunity to participate in almost all facets of the organizations operations. This includes: marketing, fundraising and also coordination of outreach services. Interns would also have to opportunity to observe the volunteers in their day to day activities and interactions with Get Connected’s users, British youth seeking help for their problems.
This is an ideal opportunity for any student with an interest in charity and non-profit work generally and youth outreach specifically.
Get Connected is run by young people for young people, so a young intern from abroad will be a welcome addition to their efforts.
